cookies & local storage
last updated: february 2026
overview
resonance does not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. we use minimal browser storage to remember your preferences and enable anonymous interactions.
cookies
theme preference
we set a single cookie (moonpath_theme) on the .moonpath.dev domain to store your light/dark mode choice. this cookie contains only "light" or "dark", expires after one year, and is not used for tracking. it allows your theme preference to carry over across all moonpath.dev sites.
google analytics
google analytics 4 sets the following cookies:
_ga: distinguishes unique visitors. expires after 2 years._ga_[ID]: maintains session state. expires after 2 years.
these cookies do not contain personal information. you can opt out by using the google analytics opt-out browser add-on or by disabling cookies in your browser settings.
local storage
the following data is saved in your browser's local storage. it never leaves your device:
- theme preference: your light/dark mode choice
- anonymous author id: a randomly generated identifier that lets you claim your submitted memories in the future. not linked to any personal information.
- reaction tracking: records which memories you've reacted to, preventing duplicate reactions. not linked to any personal information.
session storage
during your visit, traffic source information (referring website, utm campaign parameters) is stored temporarily in your browser's session storage. this data is automatically cleared when you close your browser and is used only to provide context in analytics events.
what we do not use
- no tracking cookies (beyond optional google analytics)
- no third-party advertising cookies
- no tracking pixels or beacons
- no fingerprinting
managing your data
you can clear all locally stored data at any time through your browser's settings (clear site data for resonance.moonpath.dev). this will remove your anonymous identifiers, meaning you will no longer be able to claim previously submitted memories.
